Project Centre has been recognised at the 2024 London Design Awards, winning a Gold award for the Totterdown Street public realm project and a Silver award for the Waterman’s Green regeneration project!
Gold Award: Totterdown Street
Totterdown Street, in the heart of Tooting, South London, has undergone a remarkable transformation under Project Centre’s guidance. Once a busy shortcut for motorists, it is now a vibrant, pedestrian-friendly plaza that prioritises community connection, sustainability, and local business vitality.
The project, commissioned by the London Borough of Wandsworth, embraced a collaborative approach with residents and businesses. The goal was to deliver a design that reflects Tooting’s unique diversity. Through a successful 12-month pilot scheme, the new space has become a thriving hub for markets, leisure, and community activities. It proves the value of urban design in enhancing both social and economic outcomes. Read the full case study!
Silver Award: Waterman’s Green
Project Centre’s regeneration of Waterman’s Green, located on the Putney Embankment, has redefined accessibility and connectivity in this riverside space.
Working closely with the London Borough of Wandsworth, the project addressed critical challenges. Such as poor accessibility, flooding issues, and a lack of inviting green space. Through extensive community engagement and thoughtful design, Waterman’s Green now features improved pedestrian access, sustainable planting, and welcoming amenities. The redesign not only celebrates the site’s natural beauty but also enhances its usability for residents, visitors, and businesses. Read the full case study!
