The Enforcement Conduct Board is a new independent body responsible for overseeing the conduct (behaviour and practices) of businesses and people. Enforcing court orders for unpaid penalties, fines, civil debts and taxes.
The board ensures that all those who are subject to enforcement action in England and Wales are treated fairly. Also, that there is a special regard for those experiencing financial difficulty or other vulnerable circumstances.
We are proud to have supported and attended the launch of the board at a Parliamentary reception in Westminster last week. Although the ECB is strictly independent, we are delighted to have contributed to the creation of the board; and provided voluntarily funding for the launch.
The ECB will establish a transparent evidence base that will cut through some of the myths associated with enforcement. Allowing the Ministry of Justice to create evidence-based policy. Additionally, this will help us with our own internal communications and understanding of what we do as a business. Including the pride we can take in our fair, ethical and professional approach.”
We recognise the importance of the ECB through having our own Independent Advisory Group (IAG), which has helped us to strive and do better. The IAG group meets a minimum of five times a year and challenges our business culture and ethical practices. Assessing if ethical standards have been made from our organisation.
We are excited to see the positive impact that the Enforcement Conduct Board will have within the industry and look forward to working closely with them.
