The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead (RBWM) commissioned Project Centre to design a replacement bridge currently carrying a pedestrian footpath over the Strand Water located between Cherwell Park and Blackamoor Road in Maidenhead.
The project was implemented as part of the Missing Links scheme, which was designed to encourage active travel in RBWM.
How did we help to replace the bridge?
Our expert team supported the RBWM with:
- Specifying a width of 4m and raising soffit level to facilitate the navigable channel
- Producing the outline design (including the Approval in Principal document) of the bridge deck and the full detailed design of the supports and foundations
- Providing project management services through all stages of the scheme Leading designers and fulfilling CDM-2015 duties
- Supporting the client in their function of Technical Approval Authority
CTS Bridges carried out the detailed design, fabrication and installation of the deck. We provided the parameters of CTS’s design work and collaborated to ensure all the design elements were properly co-ordinated.
Impact
The works started in July 2022 and the bridge was installed in October 2022. It was opened to the public in December 2022.
