We are proud to be supporting The City of Edinburgh (CEC) as the first city to introduce enforcement against pavement parking, double parking and parking over dropped kerbs in Scotland!
The CEC appointed our design consultancy experts Project Centre to conduct a comprehensive road study, focusing on understanding city roads and enforcing parking prohibitions. The study prioritised areas with pavement parking, assessing needs and recommending mitigation measures if needed.
NSL has provided the CEC with Decriminalised Parking Enforcement (DPE) services since 2004. Whilst the Transport (Scotland) Act 2019 legislation has been going through approval. Our dedicated Training Officer has created a council-approved training programme that our Parking Attendants in Edinburgh have completed. The training gives them the expertise to effectively enforce parking contraventions. Aligning with the latest legislation and the Council’s specific guidance.
Since the act was passed in December 2023, our dedicated team of Parking Attendants have issued more than 2,300 warning notices to motorists for parking on the pavement. These warnings signal the upcoming enforcement of pavement prohibitions starting in Edinburgh on Monday 29 January 2024.
We are thrilled to be at the forefront of the new powers going live with The City of Edinburgh. And look forward to continuing to support them through parking enforcement services.
