Project Centre has been commissioned to provide the London Borough of Haringey with consultancy services for the delivery of the Tottenham Hale public realm. The proposal has focused on creating a sense of place for the local community as well as ensuring that the area has a clear identity and an uncluttered feel.
Legibility of routes and clear hierarchy provided subtle character differences in an urban environment where pedestrians and cyclists are prioritised. The proposal has also created consistent and positive interfaces with both the Ferry Lane Regeneration scheme and Chesnut Road, through the extension and enhancement of the design principles already put in place as well as material solutions and language.
The wider strategic cycling network is also being successfully integrated within the proposal, linking
to the adjacent schemes and beyond. Another critical strategic element is the significant improvement
of the green/biodiversity network through landscape corridors which will change the streetscape
experience and, where possible, has also integrated SuDS/Rain Gardens systems.
In this particular area, after trail holes were carried out, it was not possible to install SuDS as services
were too shallow. Project Centre adapted the planting plan to reflect these changes whilst maximising the
biodiversity and habitat creation to offer.
