The London Borough of Ealing commissioned Project Centre to develop a Vision and Narrative Document for Northolt, providing solutions to connectivity and public realm’s concerns.
Northolt won the round 1 Levelling Up funds, which required the Council to plan new strategies for active travel, regeneration and economic renewal. Northolt’s neighbourhood had been suffering a lack of investment and highway deprivation. Hence, the funds were a great opportunity to give the area back to its community.
Developing our vision for Northolt
Our vision for Northolt document is structured across three scales:
- Macro – provides an overarching guiding principle for Northolt, to revitalise green spaces, local heritage and economy, improving connectivity and sustainability
- Midi – addresses key highways, streets and nodes in the neighbourhood
- Micro – provides more guidance for future improvements, waymarking, materials for furniture, planting and lighting
The connectivity of the area was at the centre of our strategy. By creating new cycle routes and footway space we encouraged active travel and reduced car use throughout the area. Our vision for Northolt contributed to create a safer and more attractive place for everyone, lowering traffic and CO2 emissions.
